Alison and Laurence Kennedy's home in Squires Hill in north Belfast has been attacked by stone throwers for three years but the petrol bomb attacks earlier this week were the final straw. The Protestant couple believe the attacks are sectarian. Mrs Kennedy said the police were unable to protect them.
"I had just fed the child when it started and as time went on it got worse," said Mrs Kennedy. "At one stage they were at the back garden fence, that is how close they came. "Everybody knows the damage petrol bombs can cause, they have wiped families out and when you have an 11-week-old baby in the house, what do you do." Mrs Kennedy added that the attacks could have been prevented if the police had come when they were first contacted. "We phoned them on several occasions and they said they were sorry they couldn't send anyone out. "We phoned another police station and they couldn't offer us any help, so for two-and-a-half hours we were were stuck in the house with the baby and we couldn't get any help." |
