Pot-bellied pig goes to market
Maisie the pot-bellied pig
Maisie was reunited with her owner
A Vietnamese pot-bellied pig found wandering in a County Antrim housing estate has been reunited with its owner.

Both the pig and the identity of its master surprised the residents of Plantation Drive in Carrickfergus.

The Clifford family got a shock when they opened the curtains on Wednesday morning.

In the garden was Maisie, a 16 stone, pot-bellied pig.
John White:
John White: "She is very upset"

The children were quick off the mark - feeding the pig with biscuits and fruit.

As Maisie made her herself at home, an appeal was broadcast on BBC Radio Ulster for the owner to come forward.

That turned out to be the former chairman of the Ulster Democratic Party, John White, who lives about two miles away.

Maisie, though, was reluctant to leave and it finally came down to improvisation and brute force.

Mr White said: "It had a mate that it lived with for about seven years.

"It died about four weeks ago and Maisie has been very upset since that.

"She has become part of the household and we would have missed her very much if she had have disappeared altogether."
