| Sunday, 16 December, 2001, 11:54 GMT Elderly warned of bogus caller threat ![]() Elderly people living alone are the most vulnerable Elderly people are being warned to be on their guard against bogus callers after a pensioner was assaulted and robbed at his home in north Belfast. The man was attacked by three men who called at his house in Sunninghill Park at 1645 GMT on Saturday. Police have stressed that elderly and infirm people should not answer their door to unexpected callers. They have also appealed for people to report anyone behaving suspiciously near their property, and for neighbours and relatives of the elderly to be mindful of their security. Punched The latest attack follows an assault on an elderly man in County Armagh. The man, in his 80s, was punched and knocked to the ground in a robbery on his home on Saturday. The attack happened at the house in Latt Crescent home on the Armagh Road in Newry shortly before 1200 GMT. A man, claiming to be from the Water Board called to the house and began working at the man's sink. Two other men entered the house and ransacked the bedroom. When the homeowner challenged the men he was punched in the chest and knocked to the ground before the three men made off in a light blue Fiesta car.
