 | | Friday, 9 November, 2001, 17:10 GMT Financier to head new agency  A leading figure in international finance has been appointed the chief executive of Northern Ireland's new economic development agency. Invest Northern Ireland (INI) is due to be launched next year subject to legislation. Orginally from County Antrim, Leslie Morrison, 53, is returning from a successful career in investment banking in America to head the new venture. Mr Morrison's appointment was announced in Belfast on Friday by the province's enterprise minister Sir Reg Empey.
"The expertise he brings to the job will enable him to develop an effective organisation and deliver the results, both in terms of inward investment and in the promotion of locally-owned businesses, that are crucial to Northern Ireland's economic success," he said. Mr Morrison, is originally from Ballymoney and was educated at Queen's University Belfast. The managing director at global investment bank JP Morgan's New York head office is leaving his post to take up the Northern Ireland role.
