It is part of a scheme by the Angel Network, which comprises a group of students from the University of Ulster and Queen's University in Belfast. They have volunteered to help with local projects in an attempt to build relationships between students and local communities. On Wednesday, participants will undertake a massive clean-up campaign in the area of the city known locally as the Holylands. They will concentrate on the area around Agincourt Avenue. During the coming months, the Angel Network will place students in community projects and schools all over Belfast. Careers Another scheme will involve students spending time with children who have emotional or behavioural difficulties in St Vincent's School on the Woodstock Road. Students will give them individual attention and guide them in projects such as Christmas card design. Community liaison officer for the University of Ulster, Anne Monaghan said the volunteering scheme would provide students with valuable experience which would "help them in their future careers". "Students do care about their community and the fact that students are willing to give their free time to help with a clean-up in the Holylands area and in other community projects, testifies to this," she said. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Northern Ireland stories now: Links to more Northern Ireland stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||
