Aine Russell was taken on Wednesday, by Royal Navy helicopter, to Yorkhill Children's Hospital in Glasgow. She was said to be under observation in a stable condition in the hospital's baby unit. The Scottish hospital has a specialist unit dealing in neonatal and paediatric care. A spokeswoman for Yorkhill said a consultant would review the baby's situation again on Friday. The airlift involved a navy crew flying from Prestwick to Glasgow to pick up a doctor, two nurses and an incubator. Then they took off for Belfast where the medical team were driven by ambulance to pick up the infant for the return journey. A navy spokesman said:"The incubator was so heavy that the airport fire brigade were called out to lift it into the ambulance." |
