Hundreds of teachers are striking

Charlie Lennon from the teachers' union said teachers had not been rewarded for their contribution.

However, the strike is causing concern about marks in this summer's leaving certificate - the exams which gain students a place in college.

Barbara Johnston, who represents a parents association, said they were extremely angry.

Talks are continuing between teachers and the government, but so far there is no sign of a breakthrough.
