Army experts explode pipe bomb

Army bomb disposal experts were called to the scene
Army technical experts have made safe a pipe bomb found near Castlewellan, County Down.

A police spokesman said they received a phone call on Tuesday night claiming that a device had been left on Moyad Road in Kilcoo. However, nothing was found in the consequent search.

Following more calls, the area was searched again on Thursday and a full clearance operation began on Friday.

Just after 1430GMT on Saturday, an object was found and the army technical officers were called to deal with it.

Superintindent Raymond McGreevy said: "I utterly condemn the actions of those responsible for leaving his device. A few seem intent on causing disruption."
