| Sunday, 17 December, 2000, 10:52 GMT Army experts explode pipe bomb ![]() Army bomb disposal experts were called to the scene Army technical experts have made safe a pipe bomb found near Castlewellan, County Down. A police spokesman said they received a phone call on Tuesday night claiming that a device had been left on Moyad Road in Kilcoo. However, nothing was found in the consequent search. Following more calls, the area was searched again on Thursday and a full clearance operation began on Friday. Just after 1430GMT on Saturday, an object was found and the army technical officers were called to deal with it. Superintindent Raymond McGreevy said: "I utterly condemn the actions of those responsible for leaving his device. A few seem intent on causing disruption." |
