Boxer in court on assault charge

A professional boxer has appeared in court accused of assault.

Jamie Cox, aged 22, was arrested at the end of 2008 after an incident at a Swindon nightclub, but failed to report for police bail on Saturday.

The Commonwealth Boxing gold medal winner handed himself in to police on Wednesday afternoon and was kept in custody.

He appeared before magistrates in Swindon on Thursday and was released on conditional bail until 16 April.
