A rail line to transport new cars from Swindon to Europe and beyond is due to open later. Cars made on the production line at Honda will be taken by train through the Channel Tunnel, reducing the number of lorries needed by the company. About 200 cars will be loaded on to each train at the Kilbride Keypoint terminal next to the factory. Honda says some 23,000 cars a year will be transported in this way and hopes other firms will follow its lead.
