Plans to axe a bus service that runs between Marlborough and Swindon in Wiltshire have prompted an angry response from commuters. People using the number 70 route are so furious about the plans, they are handing in a 500-signature petition to Stagecoach Buses.
One commuter, a nurse at the Great Western Hospital, said he would lose his job if the route was axed.
Stagecoach says it cannot afford to run the service any more.
Nurse Peter Smart said: "If we do lose the bus service then I've got to resign - it's my only form of transport."
The route is due to be axed from the end of May.
