 The collie isn't a postman's best friend |
A menacing dog that made a Swindon street a no-go area for postmen has been handed over to the RSPCA. The Royal Mail suspended deliveries to Manor Crescent earlier this month because of the aggressive behaviour of a border collie called Jake.
Residents were asked to collect their own post from the local sorting office until the dog was dealt with.
Jake's owner has now agreed to send him to the RSPCA in Bath to be re-housed, but says he is not a dangerous dog.
Sarah Rogers said: "He doesn't chase people, just postmen. I don't know why. I wonder if one of them might have frightened him."
She said she was upset at losing Jake after having had him for seven years.
Neighbours Marianne and Arnold Rivett said they missed out on their 25th wedding anniversary congratulations as a result of the suspended delivery service.
"We are very pleased to be getting our post again. We had no idea that the dog had been sent away," said Mrs Rivett.
