The magnum is believed to be one of only 12 ever produced |
A champagne magnum dating from the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer failed to sell at an auction on Wednesday. Bidding at Swindon's Dominic Winter auction house only reached 900 - 100 short of the 1,000 reserve price.
The magnum was recently retrieved from a dusty attic in Luton, Bedfordshire.
Auctioneer Dominic Winter, said: "We're very disappointed as we thought we had a put a very modest estimate on it. It just failed to perform."

The limited edition Cuvee Dom Perignon 1961 vintage was selected as it was the year of the bride's birth.
The "incredibly rare" 43-year-old Cuvee was "disgorged" by makers Moet & Chandon in 1981 for the royal wedding that year.
The couple were divorced in August 1996, a year before Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris in August.
It is understood that 99 bottles of the vintage - regarded as one of the finest ever produced - were shipped across from France's Champagne region for the wedding.
