Car share scheme tackles hold-ups
A car-sharing scheme aimed at cutting road congestion has been launched across Wiltshire.

Commuters can now log on to a website, www.carsharewiltshire.com, register their details, and will be matched with their "ideal" car-share partner.

Roadside signs will also be used to promote the county council project.

Cllr Fleur de Rhe Philipe said: "If you travel anywhere in the county during peak times you will see lots of cars with only one person in them."

She said there were "thousands of empty seats across the county".

"If half the motorists received a lift just one day a week, we could cut congestion and pollution by 10%."

People can register to join the scheme by telephoning 08700 111199.
