The pigs' escape in 1998 dominated headlines |
A campaign has been launched to immortalise two pigs who caused a media frenzy after they escaped an abattoir. Sculptors in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, want to create a statue of the "Tamworth Two" who escaped from the town in 1998.
Campaign organiser Lesley Bennett said it was also hoped to make a sculpture trail along the River Avon.
The pigs went on the run for a week after making a dash for it as they were unloaded from an abattoir lorry.
The story of Butch and Sundance dominated the headlines at the time.
When they were finally caught, they were saved from becoming pork chops and given a new protected home to live out their days.
The BBC made a 60-minute movie about their adventure called The Legend of the Tamworth Two, in 2003.
