Lost dog netted by website search
Teddy the terrier
Teddy the terrier was found in the Bristol area
Dog owner Julia Faulkes was devastated when her Norfolk terrier, Teddy, went missing during a walk.

She was so desperate to find her pet that she set up a website appealing for information.

And 17 months after Teddy disappeared in a maize field near Ms Faulkes' Wiltshire home, he was found.

A dog matching Teddy's description had been discovered in Bristol, and the international search ended with pet and owner being reunited.

Teddy was 18 months' old when he disappeared in August 2002.

Painstaking search

Miss Faulkes and her boyfriend distributed leaflets, put up posters, and alerted every police force in the country.

As a last resort, Miss Faulkes launched the website www.findteddy.com which featured pictures and video footage of Teddy.

The website apparently got dozens of hits a day from dog wardens, Norfolk terrier owners and canine lovers in America.

And a year-and-a-half after the terrier's disappearance, Miss Faulkes was contacted by a dog warden who said a terrier had been found in the Bristol area.

He said he had been alerted to the website after speaking to other Norfolk terrier owners.

Miss Faulkes arrived at the Bristol kennels where she was reunited with her dog.

"Despite having been separated for such a long period, Teddy recognised us instantly," she said.

"Much to our great relief, he had also obviously been well looked after and looked extremely fit and well."
