Roger Trimmer was caught by Environment Agency surveillance

Roger Trimmer, 56, of Peregrine Close, Swindon, admitted three charges relating to the fly-tipping of 60 tonnes of waste near Aldbourne.

Trimmer initially denied all knowledge of the incident, blaming the drivers he employed at Liam Anthony Haulage.

But an Environment Agency investigation found he had been present at the time.

'Blatant and serious'

At Swindon Crown Court on Friday, Trimmer was fined �5,000 for each of the three offences, �1,000 for not being registered as a licensed waste carrier, and ordered to pay �2,397 in costs.

Environment Agency enforcement officer Rod Gould said: "We caught on film a blatant and serious fly-tipping incident caused by Mr Trimmer.

"In the space of minutes, in broad daylight on a sunny afternoon and in full view of a busy road, he allowed his lorries to dump 60 tonnes of waste on the Ridgeway."

He added: "By his own admission, this selfish and criminal act only saved him �48 in tipping fees, but it has now cost him considerably more."
