Go ahead for development plan
Swindon planners have given their backing to a large development scheme in an area of the town known as the Front Garden.

Approval was given at a special meeting of the borough council in the Wyvern Theatre on Saturday and the proposals will now be forwarded to the government for consideration.

Bryant Homes' scheme, which includes 4,500 new homes, four schools and several shops, has faced fierce local opposition.

It must be referred to the deputy prime minister's office with campaigners against the plans hoping Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott will demand a public inquiry.
