New vehicles will allow armed officers to arrive at incidents together with dog teams.

The specially-adapted vans have a dog cage and safe to hold guns and other weapons.

Wiltshire Police have four of the vehicles, which will be constantly deployed to complement normal policing operations throughout the county.

Officers will carry with them lethal and non-lethal weapons, including pistols, rifles and baton guns, in order to deal with a wide range of firearms incidents.

The force says the aim of the vehicles is to ensure that Wiltshire remains a safe county in which to live and work.

Firearms incidents are rare in Wiltshire but police say they want to be prepared to deal with any incident involving guns.
