Fans watch Doncaster celebrations

The goal was Hayter's first for Doncaster since January

Thousands of football fans have watched Doncaster Rovers on the club's victory parade around the town.

The South Yorkshire team beat local rivals Leeds United in the League One play-off finals at Wembley on Sunday.

More than 70,000 fans travelled from Yorkshire to see the match, which saw James Hayter score the winning goal.

The open top bus travelled along White Rose Way, Waterdale, through Bennethorpe and round Lakeside and back to the stadium at 1600 BST.

Next season Doncaster will play in the second tier of English football for the first time since 1957.

A separate civic reception will take place at the town's Mansion House later to celebrate the club's victory.

Doncaster had been seen as the underdogs as Leeds defied the odds to reach the play-off final after being deducted 15 points for breaking insolvency rules.
