Delays expected at M1 roadworks
Major roadworks are beginning at one of the busiest motorway junctions in West Yorkshire on Monday.

The safety improvements to the M1/M62 Lofthouse Interchange, near Wakefield, are expected to delay drivers by up to 20 minutes at peak times.

Highways Agency bosses say the work is needed to strengthen bridge supports and upgrade safety barriers on the M1.

Most of the work will be carried out overnight on the project, which is expected to take about a month.

Highways Agency project manager Andrew Vigrass said: "This section of the M1 is already very busy at peak periods and we apologise for any additional delays that road users may experience.

"We advise drivers to allow extra time for their journeys, especially at peak times, or to find an alternative route where possible."
