A 35-year-old man is recovering in hospital after a gunman shot at him repeatedly in a pub car park in Leeds. It happened outside the Fforde Green Pub on Harehills Lane at about 2200 BST on Monday after an earlier altercation between the man and a group of youths.
Police say the man drove into the car park and was confronted by two men in another vehicle.
One man got out and fired shots into his car. Detectives say the public should not be alarmed by the incident.
Detective Inspector Adrian Taylor, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "At this moment we are investigating the circumstances of the shooting and trying to establish a motive.
"At this stage we are making enquiries to find out if the altercation and the shooting are linked.
"We believe there was a number of people on the car park at the time and are appealing for them to come forward."
The gunman is described as a black male and was wearing a grey top and a motorcycle helmet.
