Huge turbines planned for village
wind turbines
How the wind turbines might look above Denby Dale
Plans to put up two wind turbines taller than the London Eye has caused a storm of protest in a West Yorkshire village.

A Danish company wants to put up the 400ft turbines, the tallest in the UK, on land above Denby Dale.

Protestors say the project could have a detrimental effect on the area and lower property prices.

But supporters say tests are still being carried out to see if the scheme is viable.

'Guinea pigs'

Sue Fillingham, whose home looks out over the proposed turbine site, said they were far too tall.

"There are so many questions about these turbines. We are being used as guinea pigs," she said.

Wind farm architect Tony Mallalieu said it was too early for people to protest.

"We are still carrying out surveys on the land. Once the information is collated we will know if we can put masts on the land or not," he said.
