Supporters are calling for the council to help the club

The Bantams are being relegated from the Nationwide League Division One and are have also gone into administration for the second time.

Fans want the council to work with other interested parties to help the club survive.

Creditors meet in May to decide whether to accept a business plan.

The council already provides �20,000 a year in sponsorship.

Director of Arts, Heritage and Leisure, Jane Glaister said: "We have been in discussions with the club and its administrators in recent weeks to gain a clear understanding of its financial position and future business plans.

"But everyone agrees it would be premature to give detailed consideration of whether any support can be provided to the new company. We must also consider our legal position in the use of public money."

Other council support in recent years has included help with obtaining a �1.5 million grant following the 1985 Valley Parade fire and the use of Odsal stadium until the ground was rebuilt.
