Police say they know who the hooligans are. |
West Yorkshire football fans who have been banned from attending matches are being told to stay away from the European Championships in Portugal. Police have issued the warning on the same day that the Foreign Office launches a guide to help England supporters stay out of trouble.
West Yorkshire Police is urging fans not to attempt to travel to the tournament which begins in two months.
Insp Richard Hurst says all known hooligans must stay in the UK.
He said officers know who the hooligans are: "We are clearly running a number of local initiatives in the area to prevent people from travelling to Portugal.
"We are also part of the national picture working with our partners in the Football Association and the Home Office to minimise the problem of hooliganism."
