Drivers found conditions difficult on the A1M1 Link Road |
Torrential rain has been bringing problems with flash floods across parts of Yorkshire. In Leeds, rain started to fall at about 1200 BST on Monday and continued for at least two hours.
Standing water formed on many roads and motoring organisations urged drivers to be careful.
Several businesses were also affected by the wet weather with some people seeing their shops and restaurants flooded.
Emily Schofield, from the Haircut Inn in Westgate, Wakefield, said: "It came up through our basement as the drains could not cope with the amount of rain.
"It was flowing out of the door within seconds."
The downpour also caused a leak at the Meadowhall shopping complex near Sheffield.
A number of town centre properties were also flooded in Harrogate.
More floods
The Environment Agency has warned of general flooding from rivers and streams.
The rivers Aire and Calder in West Yorkshire, the Don, Dearne and Rother in South Yorkshire and the Nidd and Wharfe in North Yorkshire are thought to be particularly at risk.
A spokesman said prolonged periods of heavy rainfall and some thunderstorms were forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
Met Office staff say there is more to come with severe weather predicted for the next few days.
