Fireworks will be lit at midnight
Up to 10,000 people are expected to bring in the New Year at a free public street party in Leeds.

The city council is organising what it calls "Yorkshire's largest New Year street party" on the evening of 31 December.

The event will be centred on Millennium Square where the musical attractions will include a Robbie Williams tribute band.

At midnight, a firework display will welcome in 2004.

No tickets

There will be a funfair in the streets around the square.

It is hoped as many as 10,000 people will attend the celebrations, which will be free and with no tickets required.

Councillor Elizabeth Minkin said: "The New Year's Eve party is a great opportunity for the whole city to come together and enjoy the celebrations in the heart of the city."

Special transport will be available to and from the city centre.
