Campaign on domestic violence
A campaign is being launched in Leeds to persuade women who are suffering violence and abuse by their partners to seek help.

The poster drive is backed by a number of organisations including Leeds Women's Aid and Jewish Women's Aid.

Volunteers from the groups will be visiting the city to persuade shops, businesses, police stations and other places to put up the posters.

Organisers say the campaign will allow women access to help that can make positive changes to their lives.

Alison Lowe, of Leeds City Council, said: "Women can suffer appalling violence and fear behind closed doors.

"They can be too terrified to ask for help in case contact with 'outsiders' invokes further violence.

"We hope that these posters will provide them with the discreet lifeline they need."
