Residents can have their say on the road's future
Residents in Yorkshire are being asked to give their opinions on how the A1 could be improved.

Highways Agency chiefs say comments from the public and road users will be an essential element in developing a plan for the road.

Project manager Keith Gorst said: "The route management strategy for the A1 will look at what the road does now, and then examine what we need it to do in future.

"Local people often know a great deal about local problems and what the solutions might be.

"We look forward to hearing their views and hope that together we can produce a plan that works for everyone."

Once the draft strategy is published, it will be available for public consultation which is expected to be in October.

It is one of a series of Route Management Strategies being prepared by the Highways Agency across the country.
