Jane Tomlinson should finish her ride on Friday |
Charity fundraiser and terminal cancer sufferer Jane Tomlinson is near to completing her 1,060-mile bike ride from John O'Groats to Land's End. Mrs Tomlinson, aged 38, from Rothwell in Leeds, has been cycling for three weeks on a tandem with her brother Luke Goward.
Even though she has had to return to Leeds for chemotherapy, she has continued the challenge in an attempt to raise as much money as possible for charity.
She is due to finish at Land's End at approximately 1430 BST on Friday.
Good feeling
Her husband Mike says as long as there are no major setbacks, she should finish the challenge.
"The last few days have not been as enjoyable and it is more of a chore for the pair at the moment, however getting this far is a good feeling," he said.
"On Sunday, Jane and Luke had a fall. They were going too fast down a hill and came off the bike, causing Jane a minor injury to her knee.
"She has gone through all this and now I think she will definitely finish the race."
So far, Mrs Tomlinson's bike ride has raised 92,000.
This is on top of 118,000 raised last year through her other high profile challenges, which included running the London Marathon, a triathlon and the Great North Run.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer, 12 years ago. She was told two years ago that the cancer was terminal
