Nurse 'directed hooligan attack'
Claire Evans
Claire Evans is allegedly seen on CCTV footage
A nurse "encouraged and directed" an attack by up to 20 football fans in London's West End, a court has heard.

CCTV footage allegedly captured Claire Evans helping to orchestrate a "mass brawl" involving other Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters in October 2004.

The fans charged a smaller group who were head-butted and punched, with one clearly seen being kicked on the floor.

Evans, 38, formerly of Bearwood, Birmingham, but now St Dials Road, Cwmbran, denies violent disorder.

Only one of the attackers, who were in the capital following match between Wolves and West Ham United, was arrested.

London's Southwark Crown Court was told nearly all the rest were later identified with the help of the West Midlands police football intelligence unit.

Officers spent several months comparing surveillance stills of Evans and her fianc with fans at matches before their names were discovered.

The trial continues.
