Driver passes seventh test at 74
Lucy Hill
Lucy Hill gave up trying to pass her test for 15 years
A 74-year-old woman has passed her driving test after failing six times in the past.

Lucy Hill, from Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, said she was urged to take her seventh test by friends after the death of her husband.

She had previously tried for a licence to drive a manual car but switched to driving an automatic.

"All my friends are so happy for me. They've all given me support," said Mrs Hill after passing.

"I had such a lot of setbacks, six failed tests in the early 1980s and then I gave it up for 15 years.

"After my husband passed away one of my neighbours suggested that I tried in an automatic so that's what I've done."

Richard Ough, her driving instructor, said: "With age comes a lot more curiosity with what can go wrong and what goes right in cars so Lucy has been asking a hell of a lot of questions, which was refreshing."
