Chris Tarrant has also been honoured with an OBE
Television presenter and broadcaster Chris Tarrant is receiving an honorary doctorate at Birmingham's Aston University on Friday.

The Who Wants to be a Millionaire presenter is being honoured for his services to the entertainment industry.

Mr Tarrant grew up in Worcester and went to Birmingham University. He has said he regards the Midlands as his second home.

Separately, author Jonathan Coe is to be honoured by Birmingham University.

The Rotters' Club author said: "Birmingham University has always been an important presence in my life, starting from the time when, for seven years, I walked past the mock-Italian clock tower every day on my way to school.

"So of course this is a wonderful honour but I'm especially delighted that it has come from my home city."
