More hospital jobs could be lost
A West Midlands health trust is expected to announce job cuts or other cost-cutting measures on Thursday.

A spokesman for Unison said it had been invited to attend an emergency meeting during the morning where officials will be given more information.

The meeting has been called by Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust which runs City, Sandwell and Rowley Regis hospitals.

A trust statement said it was considering a range of options.

The statement said: "Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is currently drawing up its budget for 2006-07.

"It has a duty to break even and is considering a range of options which will enable it to do so.

"Staff will be briefed on the budget on 13 April."
