Services affected by rail 'arson'
Virgin Trains services to and from London Euston are still affected after a suspected arson attack in Staffordshire early on Thursday.

All routes will be served on Friday but there will be some cancellations, especially on the London to Manchester route, the company said.

Trackside cables by lines at Rugeley had been set on fire deliberately during the night.

Services are still likely to be affected next week.

Network Rail is repairing the damaged signalling equipment following the incident at Rugeley, south of Stafford.

Virgin Trains added that it was aiming to run as many trains as possible leaving London between 1600 and 1900 GMT on Friday.

Central Trains said it has been operating a normal timetable as far as possible on Friday morning.

Trains between Birmingham New Street and Stafford have been terminating at Hednesford where passengers have changed onto a special bus service running to Rugeley and Stafford.

In September, services in and out of Birmingham's Moor Street and Snow Hill stations were severely disrupted following an arson attack on signalling equipment in Small Heath.

Earlier that month, signalling equipment at Marston Green was set alight causing almost a week of disruption for trains running between Birmingham New Street, Coventry and London Euston.
