Police sending texts to landlines
West Midlands have become the first force in the country to pilot a new form of text communication to keep in contact with the public.

The new promptext system allows them to contact people who do not have mobile phones, through their home phones.

Advanced technology from BT now enables landlines to receive text messages by converting them to computerised voice.

The scheme will initially only be available to registered Neighbourhood or Home Watch members in Wolverhampton.
