Firework injury findings delayed
Denise Butler after leaving hospital

A report into an accident at a football match in which a woman was hit in the face with a stray firework will not be published until September.

Health and safety officials have spent more than six months interviewing witnesses to the incident at Wolves' Molineux stadium last November.

Denise Butler, from Telford, spent two nights in hospital for treatment to a deep cut just below her eye.

It had been thought the report would be ready for publication this week.

Displays banned

The firework which injured Mrs Butler was let off as part of the pre-match entertainment before the Premiership game between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United on 29 November.

Television viewers saw Mrs Butler, a season ticket holder, being taken away on a stretcher from the Billy Wright Stand.

The club has since banned firework displays before matches.

The report, which health and safety officers started writing last month, is now due to be given to councillors in Wolverhampton in September.
