A head teacher from Shropshire has been made a Dame in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. Enid Bibby, head of Wood Green High School College of Sport in Wednesbury in the Black Country, has been rewarded for services to education.
A university professor has been made a CBE for services to the NHS.
Christopher John Ham, from Solihull, is Professor of Health Policy and Management at the University of Birmingham.
Housing chief honoured
The man who has overseen the regeneration of Birmingham's largest post-war housing estates has also been honoured.
Angus Kennedy, chief executive of Castle Vale Action Trust over the last decade, gets an OBE for services to social housing.
Phil Bateman from Travel West Midlands has an MBE.
A Chief Superintendent with West Midlands Police, Bruce Gilbert, receives an OBE along with Ruth Westbrook, the former head teacher of Tile Hill Wood Girls School in Coventry.
Also in Coventry, Jujhar Singh Gill, from the Punjabi Evaluation Committee, gets an MBE as does Jamila Qureshi for services to the Asian community.
Among those from Hereford and Worcester whose achievements have been recognised is the leading Herefordshire veterinary surgeon Peter Jinman, who has been awarded an OBE.
Mr Jinman is a former chairman of the British Veterinary Association and he was in his post at the height of the foot-and-mouth crisis.
Olympic medal
Philanthropist millionaire Cecil Duckworth has also been made an OBE.
The 66-year-old is hailed for reversing the fortunes of Worcester Rugby Club over the past decade.
Simon Archer, from Worcester, who won Britain's first ever Olympic badminton medal, has been made an MBE for services to sport.
And Brian Duckworth, managing director of Severn Trent Water, has been made an OBE in recognition of his services to the water industry.
Awards in Staffordshire and Cheshire include an MBE for William Madders, from the National Farmers' Union, and Denise Platt, from Alsager, has been made a Dame for her work in the field of social care.
Jean Chinn, from Halmerend, has been given an MBE for her services to education.
In Shropshire Lawrence Allderson, from Shrewsbury, is made a CBE for his work in conservation with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.
Geoffrey Davies, from Hadnall, gets an OBE for services to agriculture and the community in Ludlow.
Vincent Marshall-Clarke, the crown court liaison officer in Shrewsbury, is made an MBE as well as Richard Sawtell, from Shrewsbury, for services to disabled people.
John Crozier, from Oswestry, is also made an MBE for his work with young people through the careers service.
Dr Bob Wilson, a specialist in asthma and stroke treatment at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, becomes an MBE as does Keith Smith, from Newport, for services to sport and his local community.
Two soldiers from Shrewsbury barracks have been honoured.
Brigadier Andrew Meek will retire with a CBE and warrant officer Sid Hopgood becomes an MBE for his devotion to duty and his welfare work.
