M6 roadworks to cause congestion
Drivers using the M6 in the West Midlands can expect delays until Christmas as roadworks are carried out.

The road surface is being renewed on the M6 between Spaghetti Junction and the M5 interchange to try to stop potholes forming.

A Highways Agency spokesman said the improvements would cause congestion and drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

Work starts on Monday on the southbound carriageway at junction 8.

The stretch will be reduced to two lanes and a contra-flow system set up for the next 21 weeks.

Next month, the northbound carriageway will be closed for 20 weeks around Spaghetti Junction.

At the same time, there will be lane closures on the Aston Expressway for resurfacing work.
