Football worker dies after attack
Villa Park
The attack as fans clashed outside the ground
A steward at Aston Villa Football Club has died more than two weeks after he was beaten up outside the ground.

West Midlands Police said the 49-year-old was kicked to the floor on Witton Lane, shortly after the game with Queens Park Rangers on 22 September.

The man suffered serious injuries after becoming caught in the middle of a fight between rival supporters. He died in the City Hospital on Friday.

Police say it is not clear if his injuries caused his death.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on Monday morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened at about 9.45pm.
