Schools to benefit from lottery
Schools and community projects in the West Midlands are being funded by the National Lottery to improve sports facilities.

The Big Lottery Fund is to give �8m from its �750m New Opportunities for PE and Sport programme to 19 school and community projects in the region.

It supports creating and modernising indoor and outdoor sports facilities.

Tenbury High School, Worcestershire, and Pendeford High School, Wolverhampton, will receive awards.

Environmental learning centre

Tenbury High School will receive just over �1.5m. The money will pay for a new four court sports hall which will be used for basketball, badminton, and other indoor sports.

Pendeford High School will get an �840,000 award for a new sports hall.

Walsall Council are also to benefit from funding for community projects.

It is planning to build a �1m outdoor activity and environmental learning centre on the former Aldridge Airport site to benefit 30,000 local children.
