Dreams come true for lucky punter
Harry Gall and his cash
Harry Gall's night work proves profitable
Some people dream of happy events, others have nightmares - but one man from Birmingham dreams up race winners.

Harry Gall, 49, woke up one morning after having a dream about gold.

So he scanned the racing papers and put a 1 each-way accumulator on four horses with gold in their names. They all came third - and he scooped 1,890.

Mr Gall said: "I was out of work and worried about bills I couldn't meet. I had a dream all about gold and when I woke up I bet my last 1. It paid off."

Golden Spectrum got the ball rolling at Beverley; Golden Queen came third at York, followed by Golden Asha and Golden Drift, both also at Beverley.

More sleep

A William Hill spokesman said: "The winnings could have been greater still - a horse called Golden Fury took second place in the 4.40pm at Sandown at 11/4, which would have netted roughly an extra 900.

"The same afternoon a horse called Golden Magic was placed in a hurdles race at French course Auteuil, and betting on French racing is also allowed in England."

The father-of-two, a former landscape gardener who was forced to give up work with back trouble, said he has had previous successes with horses after dreaming about them.

But he said he will not be celebrating his win by going out at the weekend - instead the Birmingham City fan will be getting plenty of sleep.

Mr Gall's team is playing Bolton Wanderers and he says he is hoping to dream up their first away win of the season.
