Campaigners have named the Right Reverend John Oliver, along with more than 100 public figures, as the targets of a possible fire-bombing campaign.

The group called Badgers Unknown is urging its members via its website to carry out intimidation attacks.

Police said other well-known names listed on the site include Sting, Billy Connolly, Harry Enfield and Ian Botham.

No debate

But the bishop is reportedly "irritated" rather than concerned about being included on the anti-hunt protestors' hit list.

He said: "It is not possible to engage in rational discussion with these people, so we are not prepared to enter the debate."

West Mercia Police said they were "very much aware" of the website but were not willing to discuss individual cases.

"As a force we are constantly monitoring websites of this nature," said a spokesman.

"We are assessing the situation and will take whatever action we feel is appropriate.

"We are not willing to comment on individual cases or security matters that may be involved."
