Rail passengers warned of delays
West Midlands rail passengers face delays this Easter as major engineering work is carried out on the West Coast mainline.

Bus Services and diversions will operate while the 8bn modernisation of the London to Glasgow route continues.

Network Rail says the works are essential for 125mph services to start on parts of the line from September.

It says the new timetable will also see extra trains running from Birmingham at peak times.

Renewal work will also be taking place on the line between Stafford and Rugby from 9 to 13 April, and Rugby to Hemel Hempstead from the 9 to 12 April.

Network Rail's West Coast programme director Tom McCarthy: "During the last 18 months, we have already provided high quality road replacement services during a number of closures, ensuring that passengers can complete their journeys with confidence.

"We still have some way to go before overall completion of the project, but this September will see the first real benefits, with reduced journey times and more frequent services."
