Residents fight post office plans
Thousands of people have signed a petition against plans to close four post offices in the West Midlands.

Tesco is taking over convenience stores in Dorridge, Marlbrook, Water Orton, and Sutton Coldfield and converting them to new Express shops.

It will mean the closure of the post offices within those stores.

Campaigners have collected a 2,000-signature petition. Tesco managers say the plan is necessary and the stores will provide other benefits.

Tesco spokesman John Church said the improvements should make up for the loss of the post offices.

"Our aim is to bring to the community new stores which will bring fresh food, better quality and better prices, but also to retain the post offices.

"However, in the small amount of cases that we can't our aim is to work with the post office to ensure it's relocated within the community."
