Gorilla ad was 'racist'
An advert that featured a gorilla's face superimposed on the body of a black woman in a bikini has been criticised as racist by an industry watchdog.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) upheld a complaint from a member of the public that the advert by Onetoo Ltd. was "racist and offensive".

The Birmingham-based company used it to promote mobile phone logos, ringtones and pictures.

Onetoo has apologised for any offence it caused and withdrawn the image in question, which appeared in the adult comic Viz.

Viz said the advert had not been seen before publication because it was submitted just before its print deadline.

The ASA upheld the complaint, saying the image was "racist and likely to cause serious or widespread offence".
