College student remembered
Alison Linforth
Alison Linforth wanted to be a journalist

Hundreds of people have gathered to pay their respects to a Birmingham schoolgirl who died on her first day at college.

Alison Linforth, from Northfield in Birmingham, collapsed at her desk at Cadbury Sixth Form College two weeks ago.

It is thought she had a heart attack.

The 16-year-old had been at the college in Kings Norton for just an hour in her first lesson when she collapsed on 11 September.

The service at Longbridge Methodist Church on Thursday, which was attended by family, school friends and college staff, heard that Alison was a talented artist and musician who had wanted to become a journalist.

An investigation into Alison's death is under way and tests are being carried out to find out exactly how she died.
