The Prime Minister has unveiled a plaque at the spot where a police motorcyclist was killed two years ago.

Pc Malcolm Walker died when a stolen car was deliberately rammed into his bike in Perry Barr, Birmingham.

A 22-year-old man, Nicholas Walters, was later jailed for life after being convicted of murdering the officer.

A plaque, commissioned by the Police Memorial Trust, was unveiled on Thursday by Tony Blair at the spot where Pc Walker died on the A34 Birchfield Road near the junction with Aston Lane.

The Prime Minister's wife, Cherie Blair, also attended the ceremony along with the founder of the Police Memorial Trust, Michael Winner, and Pc Walker's family.

The 46-year-old constable, who was married with four children, died when he was thrown from his bike.
