Dr Priyanand Hallan is heading for Las Vegas

A football club doctor is dreaming of a 1.2m windfall after qualifying for the final of the richest poker game in the world.

Dr Priyanand Hallan, who looks after the crowd at West Bromwich Albion on matchdays, is flying to the gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas, next month.

The 30-year-old will sit around the table with 10 of the best poker players in the land for the top prize of $2million (1,247,161).

Dr Hallan, who lives in West Bromwich and practises at Cronehill Health Centre, has spent his Saturday afternoons on duty at The Hawthorns this season as the Baggies enjoyed a one-season stay in the Premiership.

'I love the game'

Dr Hallan qualified for the trip by winning one of two semi-finals organised by Ladbrokes on the internet.

Dr Hallan said: "I am not a serious poker player. I play probably 10-12 times a year at my local casino.

"But since being introduced to online poker I have been playing more regularly.

"I am far from being a professional, but I love the game and more for fun rather than money."
