The Quakers are currently seventh in League Two |
Fans of struggling club Darlington FC are fighting to save their team by raising 300,000. Recently placed in administration and docked 10 points, the football club's future remains uncertain. But members of the Supporters Club and the Supporters Trust have formed a united front and arranged a special "Quakers Day of Action". On 21 March, fans will bungee jump in Darlington Market place to raise money for the 125-year-old club. 'Long history' Tony Taylor, chair of the Darlington FC Supporters Trust, said: "This has come as a blow to us all, and such a shock. "The team have been playing really well, so we did not expect the news that we had been put into administration. I just hope we can find a buyer soon. "The challenge of raising 300,000 is a big one, and we have to get it raised before the end of the season, but we are going to do all we can for the club." Dave Clark, of Brackenbury Clark and Co, has been appointed as administrator taking over the running of the club. And he is positive of securing a new owner, given the current position of seventh in League Two and the assets surrounding the club. "This club has a long history in league football having been founded in 1883. My job as administrator is to affect a sale of this club to a new investor or consortium," he said.
